I’m always a little bit irritated when I hear the criticism of abstinence, because abstinence is absolutely 100 per cent effective in eradicating a sexually transmitted disease,” Bush said.”

Someone should ask the Bush lady which STD has been eradicated by abstinence.

Isn’t Laura supposed to be the literate partner in this semi-literate marriage? Does she not know the meaning of eradicate? Or did George secretly write her speech for her, and not let anyone vet it?

    doing what, exactly?

And once you’ve got her attention by asking her which STD has been eradicated by abstinence, you may as well go for the walk-off grand slam, and try explaining to her that preaching abstinence can help prevent the transmission of STDs only if preaching abstinence leads to the preachees practicing abstinence, which it somehow doesn’t seem to.

(And the blame, of course, lies squarely with the unintelligent design of the human reproduction procedure. What was the silly old Designer thinking when He stirred in that much pleasure potential into the recipe?)

Maybe no one has ever explained that before to Laura? Or maybe she just never listened before when people tried? Because seeing as how she was a librarian and all, surely she will understand at once if only someone can get the message to penetrate her bubble? Unlike Presidents, librarians are required to have an IQ greater than their age, right?

It seems it is pretty simple for Bush to discuss absintence as the solution because he does not need sex in his life to survive. While on the surface, this might seem like an assainine comment, consider how many women MUST prositite themselves in order to feed themselves, feed their children (if they have any), and perhaps provide some sort of shelter outside of the street-side tent they have sex in. This is a very important factor in the continuation of many STD’s. This is not opinion, this is fact. So, abstinence is not the end all, be all, other side of the world, period on the end of the sentence answer. Now comes the important part of picking apart a politicians decision/comments - an effective counterdecision. What else can be done…. Empowerment might be a better solution. How can these women be empowered? By increasing their offerings to society. Their are many different ways to do this, education may be the best route.

No one ever gave you a hard time for typos. Only for not making sense.

And as Matt said to you last time, if you can’t be bothered to make sense or say what you mean, why bother to come here and say anything at all? Or why expect to be taken seriously?

SB, please, calm down, I was only jesting, and definitely not wanting to produce a reaction such as this.

Clearly, my references to Pink Floyd’s “Don’t leave me now” didn’t come thru….

P.S. I have been criticized for typos, in addition to not making sense (at least by anyone other than myself)….

I’m not SB. Never have been. If you don’t want me to make up a different pejorative version of your name each time I refer to you, kindly cease and desist from calling me SB.

Okay. Deep breath. Then very calmly: go suck the dick of a duck.

I have been criticized for typos, in addition to not making sense (at least by anyone other than myself)….

Not by me, I don’t think (unless it was a long time ago).

And your statement in parentheses doesn’t make sense.

Like Matt asked yesterday: doing what, exactly?
