Being An Enquiry Into The Relative Volume Of Actions And Words
by sarabeth at 7:00 am on May 28th, 2006 in Bush Man Date, Podium SpinGet a load of this nugget, from the Daou Report Blog (aka The Grit), about the mistakes President Bush admitted during last week’s Bush-and-Blair press conference. (They go together almost like a horse and carriage, don’t they? For all practical political purposes, they are Siamese twins. Still undetermined, though, being a matter of national security on both sides of the Atlantic, is what part(s) of their respective anatomies they are joined together at. Just for the record, if you’re thinking what I was thinking when I added the (s), you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.)
UPDATE 2: According to some accounts, this picture of Bush during the press conference was taken immediately after his mea culpa. (From the Left Coaster via C&L)

It may be fourth-hand, but that picture’s still worth more than a few thousand words. This one alone qualifies him for immediate induction, during his own lifetime, while still in mid-career, into the Smirking Hall of Fame.

Oh, come on, any picture can look and give off an entirely different meaning when taken out of context. Unless he was posing for this picture, I highly doubt this was dubious in nature. With an HD system and screen grabber, I’m sure you can get a “smirk” like this from anyone…
