Evil Evil Everywhere

Except here. Honestly, it’s nearly impossible to get worked up over anything when dinner time looks like this:

sunset51006.jpg

But then again, we have memories:

President George W. Bush 1/29/02:

Iran aggressively pursues these weapons and exports terror…
[...]
States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world.

Some more recent than others:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran 5/11/06:

Iran’s president on Thursday called Israel’s government a “regime based on evil…”

I’m sure someone can explain to me how the gander has it all over the goose.

I’m confused as to the actual meaning of this post. Let me try to understand…

You are implying that Iran, in fact is not a threat and you are questioning why we should not allow Iran to have nukes but ignore the fact that Israel has nukes? Is this the point of this post? I just want to be clear about it…

Yah man, like, you’re so totaly right. Like, it’s such a double standard man. Just like those damn doctors too man. Like, if a Doctor can have legal access to morphine, why can’t I, man? It’s not like he’s more responsible or anything. I’d only use it for medical stuff, man. I swear!

sarabeth, i ask your forgiveness, but in response to the point of this post, i would have to say that the true point of the post is to call attention to the fact that when matt is not snowboarding in tahoe he’s snorkling in hawaii. . .while the rest of us toil away. . .

  4. sarabeth says:

    Okay, forgiven, but:
    a) I am going to be sniffing a little (through this nose that I’m keeping scrupulously clean).
    b) Even when you’re dealing with a saint like me, at some point you will definitely get overdrawn at the forgiveness bank.

Please elaborate? What has Israel done wrong, in your view?

  7. sac says:

Israel, and the countries that set it up (the usual suspects, mostly England, but also the US) have a lot to answer for, but obviously Iran is FAR more dangerous to the world. There is no good answer to this burgeoning situation, so partisan bickering is stupid. Or more stupid than usual, I should say. While Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been exaggerated by the Bush administration (as far as I can tell, experts say Iran is at least 7 years from being able to refine uranium to weapons-level purity), they are correct in pushing the issue. The Iranian population seems to be quite progressive for that area, but thier government is horrendous. Hey, wait a minute…

  8. JimC says:

Although I agree with most of your comment, I would like you to elaborate more on this….

Israel, and the countries that set it up (the usual suspects, mostly England, but also the US) have a lot to answer for

As for the “exaggeration”, yes it is true that their current production would take them that long but it is also true that they are working on a system that could ramp up their production exponentially…

  9. Bob says:

actually, US intelligence estimated 10 years untill they can build a nuke. it was Israeli intelligence which placed it as MUCH sooner. although judging by the effectivness of US intelligence so far, I think we’d be better off listening to the Israelis.
