Andrew Card’s Resignation

by sarabeth at 6:30 am on March 28th, 2006 in Bush Man Date, General

Major news. The interesting thing is that Steve Clemons of The Washington Note called this, back in December. His crystal ball said that the Queen Mother (Barbara Bush) was sharpening the long knives for Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Andy Card, but that things would happen only after the State of the Union address. So stay tuned. And hope that Clemons is on a roll here.

Reminds me of the story about Franken and Old Lady Bush on the plane together. You think she called up Card yesterday and said, “I’m through with you”?

I have to say though, as far as Clemons’ scoop goes, I don’t think it’s all that impressive to predict a Chief of Staff will resign after serving for five years. If Cheney or Rove ends up kicked to the curb, it’s a different story, but until then I’m chalking this up to a relatively safe and normal move on Bush’s part.
