He Must Be Coming Down With Something!

Could this really be our Scottie? No evasion, no stonewalling, no obfuscation? Just a straightforward yes? Even when it reflects poorly on the President?

No, no, you’re giving him too much credit. This makes the president look GOOD, you see… they didn’t KNOW about DP World. If they had they certainly would have done things differently.

By the way, I have to give the Prez credit on this one. It might not be veto-worthy, but I agree (first time ever, I think) that the critics of the transfer are acting out of predjudice (either their own or their constituents’).

It went through the normal review process, I guess the president doesn’t need to know when part of his administration makes a decision. It’s empowerment - conservative, compassionate empowerment.

The funny thing is…if he didn’t know about it, why was he so quick to threaten a veto and affirm how great a deal it was? That makes so much sense!

If it is in fact simply a case of prejudice, I can’t help but find it a little funny that it’s this very administration that has fed this very kind of prejudice by lumping Arab nations unrelated to 9/11 like Iraq in with Al Qaeda. Seems Bush might be reaping what he sowed.

Matthew, “reap what he sowed.” Great point!
I also agree that “I didn’t know about it, but now that I do, I support this sale,” is a good answer, a rare truthful answer, and actually the right answer. For once, Bush is handling a topic with principle. All the shit he’s taking is the remnants of his past strategies of conflating “arab nations” with “terrorism.”
