Revisionist Spokesmanship

White House spokesman Trent Duffy (12/27/2005):

“As we’ve said all along, a country’s decision on whether, or what level to support the mission in Iraq, either with troops or with money, or with other resources, is the country’s decision to make on its own, and we respect those decisions.”

Somehow I totally missed it the first time around that this was the real meaning of “You’re either with us or against us in the fight against terror.” Thanks ever so much for clearing it up so nicely.

im anyway not getting what they are doing right now. its pretty much a hollow stand. today i read that the kurds are ready to uprise to declare an own state. so what are they (bush n cheney) gonna do? despite the average daily embarassment about no wmds, halliburton corruption, a wiretapped un and 17 us brigades that are obviously mocked by some hobby-rebels (or former hussein elite) they will present an iraq to us that just crumbles into pieces.
so thats a success story? they need to come down from their phrases pretty soon because without straight talking people wont get the remains bush left of what was once called us foreign policy.

It’s cute when the administration tries to pretend that Iraq is a real country, and not a three-headed hydra created out of thin air by the Brits in the 1940s and held together only by a series of brutal dictators. Let the Kurds and Shiites go their own seperate ways already.
