The Last Refuge of Bankrupt and Cornered Politicians

This morning the Washington Post is running a story headlined “Bush, Cheney Denounce Democratic Senators Critical of Iraq War”. The opening sentence reads:

President Bush and Vice President Cheney lashed out again against Democratic senators who have questioned the handling of prewar intelligence on Iraq, with the vice president accusing critics of engaging in “one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city”.

So now Bush and Cheney have moved into full-throated McCarthyism, the last refuge of bankrupt and cornered politicians.

And Bush is now suggesting that it is unpatriotic and irresponsible for Chuck Hagel to have said:

“To question your government is not unpatriotic — to not question your government is unpatriotic.”

Where is this going to end, and what will the fat lady be singing when it does? Any takers for “Heil to the Chief”?

I think you have it all twisted. Bush has been quiet all the while the dems of enjoyed free reign in the media to change their stories and paint themselves as the savior of the country when in fact they themselves played an important part in backing the President to authorize military force.

It’s like giving someone a $20 bill with a smile, then helping them pick something out to buy giving them supportive comments on the purchase, and after they leave the checkout counter, calling the cops to report them as a thief claiming they stole your money….

But in this case the security cameras caught you giving them the $20 bill with a great big smile, shows in the store shopping along with them, and even helping them carry out the bag…

What Bush is doing now is showing the country the security tapes…to show what the dems really are…

It’s about having some honor and integrity, which the dems clearly lack…

JimC clearly missed a part of the story that security tapes would also show: Bush posing as a security guard warning of imminent danger to the original owner of that $20 bill. If you pull the dressing-room tapes, I’m sure you could get a shot of him changing-out of that uniform and walking-out in a business suit.
