Vote
by matt at 7:00 am on November 8th, 2005 in Ahhhnold: TurdIn case you’ve been sleeping for a few weeks, today is election day. Though it’s an off year, there are still some big races on the boards. If you missed it last week, here is our voter guide for the California ballot initiatives. Last minute polling paints a somewhat muddy picture as can be expected with complicated issues before voters. It does appear that Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to get smacked around in most, if not all, of his power grab.
Outside of California, the biggest races are in New Jersey and Virginia. If you are registered in either of those states, please consider voting for Senator Jon Corzine in his bid for New Jersey governor, and for Tim Kaine for governor in Virginia. These races are important milestones in the 2006 narrative which will officially get underway on Wednesday.

AGAIN, I had a hard time at the polls. Went to where I voted (without incident) in the primaries and I wasn’t in the book!!!! The other people on the 4th floor of my building were in the book, but the poll workers insisted on having me try another district even though the drunk in my building was happily voting in the booth (taking a REALLY long time and being harassed by the poll worker to “vote already!” which i thought might be illegal). So I went to the other table, they couldn’t find me, I came back to my table, I had to fill out a paper ballot, though there were no cardboard privacy shields at this location. . .in any event, i filled out a paper ballot, went to work only to find out there were NO EGGS in the cafeteria. . .how, you may ask does a school cafeteria run out of eggs?! i have no idea, but i was pissed. (but that’s not the board of elections fault).
i called the board of elections and miraculously got through. they told me i was still register in my maiden name, even though somehow they got my address change, they didn’t get my name change. the first man i talked to said my paper ballot would not be counted so i toyed with going back and voting on the machine in my maiden name but the next person i talked to said my name change was in the system, just not processed yet and the ballot would count because she was processing the name change.
i really doubt my vote will be counted and i’m really pissed off.
