I remember sending my mail order away to Tape Kingz when I was like 14-15 to get that Biggie tape mailed to me. It's definitely a classic-- might even still have it lying around somewhere, although I might have lost it in the move(s). Thanks for bringing me back though, I appreciate it.

What Matt fails to mention in the memory lane above (chooses not to recall?) was the cataloging system he employed which we spent HOURS, no DAYS, perfecting. It involved alphabetizing the tapes, numbering them with masking tape and markers, recording the numbers and then repeating all steps every few weeks to accommodate for the new ones. I'm not sure I even got anything for my trouble, except maybe increased "library" privileges.

When Matt sent me the original link that inspired this story I was scrolling through and thought to myself: they're not going to have the ugly clear ones with the pink, blue and yellow graphics, and as soon as I had that thought, there it was. Amazing.

As a kid, I didn't know from electronic "mixed tapes" but man, was I addicted to making "mix tapes," and man, were they bad. I got a reputation among my friends for thinking I had made something amazing when in fact, it was awful. Strange how two people who grew up in the same house could end up so different. . .
