I Do Not Consent

Just in case you thought a few weeks mellowed me:

This past weekend I met a detective with 27 years on the NYC police force. He has been moved to the homeland security unit. He
acknowledged that the searches were illegal and expects the NYCLU to win their court case. He figures they’re “doin’ what they can while they can.” He also told me that if he found weed in someone’s bag during a subway search he would arrest said person but if said person kept his or her weed in their pocket, well then, they’d be much safer. I don’t carry weed in my bag or my pocket; however, I do carry a pocket copy of the Constitution.

I haven’t been stopped yet and I don’t plan to consent if I am; however, knowing that the Constitution is in my bag does make me feel, well, better.
