All Democrats Are Apparently The Most Partisan

Robert Novak is either senile or a fucking liar. In a column lamenting the political castration of South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune, Novak comes off the rails:

North Dakota’s Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan, two of the most partisan Democrats in the Senate…

Look, not all Democrats in the Senate can be the most liberal or the most partisan. When Dorgan and Conrad’s votes in the last Congress are compared to the votes of their peers, the numbers tell a different story: Dorgan ranked 39th and Conrad ranked 40th out of 48 Democratic Senators. Such a simple fact to check, and neither Novak nor his editors could be bothered to get it right. So which is it Bob, senile or liar?

Don’t make us break out the Photoshop again, douchebag.

Of course! The Optimal Classification algorithm described in Non-Parametric Unfolding of Binary Choice Data, Political Analysis, 8:211-237, 2000! EVERYONE knows about that!

I’m sure it’s accurate, but I’d have liked to see more clear details in your blog entry.
