Quid Pro Quo
by matt at 7:00 am on February 28th, 2005 in Bush Man DatePreviously we covered Tom Ridge’s lament that his $175,700 salary as Secretary of Homeland Security wasn’t enough.
Well, the cash is set to roll in now that Ridge has been named to the board of directors at Home Depot.

Home Depot rally, Q1 2003
Anyone care to guess what caused such a sharp rally in Home Depot’s stock? That’s right, it was Ridge’s duct tape and plastic sheeting speech in early 2003.
Knowing that Ridge focus grouped the terror warning for eight months before going public, and that he now has a high-paying do-nothing job at Home Depot, would anyone be surprised if one of the questions was:
Would a terror alert suggesting that you buy duct tape, plastic sheeting and other such items make you more likely to buy them?
But of course no one in this administration would do anything to benefit one of their largest campaign contributors. Not even if there was a cushy job in it for them.
