Helping is a Liberal Value

Now that the scope of the the devastation caused by last week’s tsunami is coming in to focus, it is clear that there is a critical need for immediate help. Because the affected areas are on the other side of the world, nothing will get there as quickly as cash.
With the end of the year upon us, now would be a great time to donate and take the deduction against your 2004 taxes. Dr. Kate reminds us that even $10 makes a difference in places where that is a year’s wages for a family.
We recommend Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders for those still boycotting all things French.) They have been doing excellent work in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries that we haven’t yet thrown into chaos.
Donation page here.
To their credit, companies like Apple and Amazon have turned their front pages into donation aggregators.
No matter where you give, please help if you can.
We’ll be back at full strength next week. Have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve.

a good way to make your money go even further is to collect contributions at work. just by asking, i was able to convince my boss to double however much i could collect from the rest of the employees at my company.
