If There Is a Hell…

…whoever was the source of this quote will fucking burn.

Josh Marshall got there first, but I just couldn’t let this pass.

Early Tuesday, substitute White House liar Trent Duffy answered for the President’s lack of public comment on the tsunami disaster:

“The president wanted to be fully briefed on our efforts. He didn’t want to make a symbolic statement about ‘We feel your pain.’ “

Gratuitous Clinton bashing aside, the money quote came off-the-record from a “top Bush aide” (likely Chief of Staff Andy Card):

“Actions speak louder than words.”

The cold hard reality of this administration is that absent their mighty communications operation (words), they would be cleaning out their desks right about now. The paltry $15 million they originally pledged to help the tsunami victims is the perfect example: They had to more than double it when faced with massive disapproval from humanitarian organizations and the public.

I’d like to see “Actions speak louder than words” tattooed on everyone who works at the White House. Maybe a few of them would act as if that was the case.
