The third season of HBO’s The Wire premieres this Sunday at 9pm. You can read our previous praise of the show here and here. If you don’t take our word for it, read San Francisco Chronicle TV critic Tim Goodman.

Either way, The Wire is the best series on television right now, and it really isn’t even close.

In other Wire news, the season one DVD comes out October 12th.

let me just say that the wire is in higher standing with me now just because 6 ft under turned to utter nonsense this season. but showtime is holding it down now, its all about dead like me and the l word. and entourage on hbo was a good comedy. but yeah im really eagerly aanticipating this season of the wire. why would they premiere it on emmy weekend though? heads are gonna wanna watch that, im gonna have to on demand it later.

6 Ft Under was 12 episodes of annoying nonsense building up to the dead father (the only good character) telling dude quit whining and STFU! That was brilliant.

that ending was especially decent, i was happy someone told him to STFU. the episode where he got abducted or whatever is the worst hour of fictional television ive ever voluntarily watched. he should have just socked that pussy and been done with it.
