Choose Your Own Diversion
by matt at 6:10 am on July 19th, 2004 in PoliticsI think we can all agree that the Bush Administration/Campaign simply will not allow the Democratic National Convention to dominate media coverage for four whole days next week.
The New Republic reports that:
…according to [an] ISI official, a White House aide told ul-Haq last spring that “it would be best if the arrest or killing of [any] High Value Target were announced on twenty-six, twenty-seven, or twenty-eight July”–the first three days of the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
I’m always skeptical when conspiracies stretch across national borders and agencies, so I’m looking for another story that would steal the headlines.
Possibilities (in ascending order of likelihood): new policy initiative, cabinet resignation, or terror threat level change.
Any other ideas?
