RNC: Outside the Margin, In Error

Is this the best the RNC can do?
Their early attempts to paint John Kerry and John Edwards as extreme left-wingers is especially pathetic and (say it with me…) full of lies:

Claim:

Just when we thought John Kerry – the most liberal member of the 2003 Senate – couldn’t get any further out of the mainstream, BAM! He picks John Edwards, the 4th most-liberal member of the 2003 Senate.

Fact:

According to Texas political scientist Dr. Keith Poole’s, mathematical ranking system, 20 Senators rank more liberal than Edwards and 22 are to the left of Kerry.

They only missed by 21 and 16 places respectively. With math skills like that, the RNC’s ability to count votes, run polls, and raise money has to be called into question.

But then with Ed Gillespie running the show over there, what isn’t in question?

From Tuesday’s Hardball:

Gillespie:  That Senator McCain is one of the most respected figures in America today, for good reason.  Gave a powerful introduction to the president, made a strong testament to his resolve in leading the war on terror and winning that war.  And I thought it was a powerful message, and it‘s one of the best spots I think the campaign has done.

Chris Matthews:  How do you do that without laughing?

That’s something we’d all like to know, Chris.
