Our Vice President is a liar. But you already knew that.
Does is get any worse than this?
Dick Cheney on CNBCs Capital Report, June 17, 2004
Gloria Borger: Well, lets get to Mohammed Atta for a minute, because you mentioned him as well. You have said in the past that it was quote, pretty well confirmed.
Vice President Cheney: No, I never said that.
BORGER: OK.
Vice Pres. CHENEY: Never said that.
BORGER: I think that is…
Vice Pres. CHENEY: Absolutely not.
Borger doing her best imitation of an actual journalist let Cheney off the hook even though anyone who has been following this administration (much less covering it for a living) knows that he doth protest too much.
Luckily, the official White House website has the transcript from Cheney’s appearance on NBCs Meet the Press, December 9, 2001, for all of the press and public to see.
Vice-President Cheney: Its been pretty well confirmed that he did go to Prague and he did meet with a senior official of the Iraqi intelligence service in Czechoslovakia last April.

Do each of Cheney’s three denials on Capital Report count as three separate lies? Sure, interviews with the press aren’t under oath, but shouldn’t lying like this be considered high crimes and misdemeanors?
In the same interview, Borger asked Cheney if he had additional information that the 9/11 Commission didn’t have access to with regards to Iraq-Al Queda links. Cheney, never one to be verbose, replied “probably.”
Obviously slighted by the lack of forthrightness from Cheney’s appearance before them, the co-chairs of the Commission called for Cheney to share this information.
What good is a Commission looking into the worst act of terror on U.S. soil if the administration ties their hands behind their backs? Without the full access the Commission was promised, they are reduced to nothing but a Kabuki show in order to let the administration pretend they are trying to get to the truth behind 9/11.
With an administration like this, who needs external threats? Dick Cheney and Co. have done more damage to the idea of the United States of America than 100 Osama bin Ladens could ever hope to. Bin Laden can kill people and destroy property; the actions of this administration can bring about the end of our most important possession: what this country stands for.
Surely there are some readers who have friends / family / coworkers who plan to vote Republican this fall because they think the administration is “honest,” “trustworthy” and keeping us safe. See what they say when they see this.
