10 poll average Presidential approval numbers 2001-present

Some lefty blogs are pretty excited about this poll. On the surface, it looks bad for the President. Applying stock metrics to this graph would cause you to place a quick sell order as it seems to have broken key support in several places.
But Bush’s ads are pretty devastating, and the Republicans continue to master the dark art of the smear. Even with Dick Clarke front and center, cataloging the administration’s failures and inconsistencies on security, Bush’s ads falsely accusing John Kerry of voting to raise taxes 350 times have taken a heavy toll on Kerry’s poll numbers. With the media either unwilling or unable to point out the facts, it will be extremely difficult for Kerry to counter these attacks. And facing a 40:1 fundraising deficit, harder still.
Now is as good a time as any to help us defeat George W. Bush.
