Getting Phone Calls from God? STFU!

Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas fancies himself a renaissance man. He plays in a rock band called Capitol Offense, and has written a book called Living Beyond Your Lifetime.
In lieu of, you know, actually giving a speech at a gathering of Republican governors on Tuesday, Huckabee thought it would be a good idea to step up to the podium and pretend to take a call on his cell phone from…God.
From the San Jose Mercury News:
[Huckabee], who took the stage before Bush, set the tone for the event by pulling out his cell phone for a mock conversation with God about Bush’s candidacy. “We’re behind him, yes sir, we sure are,” Huckabee said into the phone.
Huckabee asked how God got his number, and also said that God wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger’s autograph.

10 From the Dome:
1. God, hold on a sec, I have Allah on the other line.
2. I wouldn’t mind God getting Schwarzenegger’s autograph in person.
3. Was this peak or off peak? Those roaming charges from Heaven can be a bitch.
4. The caller ID said “867-5309″. Now we know who won the Ebay auction.
5. Couldn’t Huckabee have placed God on speakerphone so everyone could have listened to the gospel?
6. “I really wish I had one of those camera phones.”
7. God dialed the wrong number. He was trying to vote on American Idol.
8. Strangely enough God’s voice sounds exactly like Cathrine Zeta-Jones’, and she told Huckabee to “Get More”.
9. Doesn’t God know anything? It’s all about text messaging these days.
10. Can you hear me now?
Mike Huckabee, Shut The Fuck Up!

Huckabee’s an idiot, as Canadians have known full well since he was suckered on “Talking to Americans”- I think he was the governor who congratulated Canada on preserving our “National Igloo”. The smirk on Rick Mercer’s face was unforgettable.

That’s great. I’m not familiar with that show or that incident.
But as an American, it is my civic duty to ignore anything not originating in the US.
