It’s Called Credibility
by matt at 8:00 am on December 18th, 2003 in PoliticsHoward Dean can criticize The Prez all he wants. It’s never going to sound as good as this because he lacks the credibility to pull it off.
General Wesley Clark on CNN.com:
“I would have followed through on the original sentiment that the president gave us — Osama bin Laden, dead or alive.”
“Instead, he executed a bait-and-switch. He took the priority off Osama bin Laden. He shifted the spotlight onto Saddam Hussein.”
“I’ll put my 34 years of defending the United States of America, and the results that I and my teammates in the United States armed forces achieved, against his three years of failed policies any day.”
Yeah, Dean is an angry guy telling a bunch of angry Democrats what they want to hear. So what? Give me credibility and knowledge over bluster and bile.

i just have to say that i think that anyone could and should criticize bush for the “bait and switch”. it was the strong wording of “If I’d been president, I would have had Osama bin Laden by this time” that only clark could say with any reasonable authority. dude should definitely play to his advantages like this more and perhaps he’d be doing a little better.
i still like a dean + clark campaign.
