Just like Fox News, but for people who can read

The time between waking up and full brain function can sometimes be more of a journey than it should be. This weekend that journey was made considerably more difficult by The Weekly Standard via Fox News. “We found the link between Saddam and bin Laden” the anchors were shouting. They must have repeated this like a mantra 20-30 times in 30 minutes. Note to self: Stop watching Fox News late at night.

I thought to myself, “Could they have found some video tape? A filing cabinet with years of secrets? A prisoner who decided to talk?” No, it was a memo written over a month ago by Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith. In case you were wondering, that is the same Douglas Feith who said that we would find WMDs and would be greeted with flowers by grateful Iraqi citizens.

How’d those predictions work out Dougy?

In any case, all of the intel in the memo was available prior to the war, and still the Prez and other Administration officials have been forced to walk back Dick Cheney’s repeated attempts to connect Iraq and bin Laden. This is headline making news now? Fox News thinks so, even if no other media outlet agreed. After all of the stunts that Fox News has pulled, including timing their broadcast to coincide with Republican senators walking out of the Senate last week, how do they still classify as journalism?

When is someone in the mainstream media going to call bullshit on all of this? It isn’t that hard to look up stats on how many fabrications and outright lies they have run with, and there is plenty of polling data to show the damage that has been done due to this deception and recklessness.

I’m available, and I can do it while I’m unconscious. But not for free.
