Someone Please Stop The President From Making Up Words

From today’s press conference:

“It is dangerous in Iraq because there are some who believe that we are soft, that the will of the United States can be shaken by suiciders”

Suiciders? The word “suicide” is not a verb in any version of English that I’m familiar with…thus, it’s a little hard to be a “suicider” in a linguistic sense. Of course, this is the same Bush who told all the “suiciders” to “bring it on” a couple of months ago, so nuance isn’t exactly his fort.

soft? shaken by suiciders?! try telling that to the lady in Florida who doesn’t seem to want to die. or does she?

  2. Miriam Webster says:

You must not be from Texas. That’s how we roll down here. If we can’t think of how to say something, we make up new words like Californiaer.
Or we just say nuke-u-lar ans scare everyone.

  3. Jason (1115) says:

The interesting thing is that the “suicide” aspect of suicide bombings really isn’t the point…it’s the bombing that matters, not the suicide. If the country really was at the mercy of “suiciders”, there would be FBI vans parked outside the home of every depressed teenager who listens to Morrissey. Maybe the administration felt that “terrorist” was getting too played out, and clarifying “suicide” with “bombers” was just too many words for the Prez to deal with.

  4. Miriam Webster says:

“Terrorist” is a classic and hence will never get played out. I think they are reserving it for domestical dissenterers.

i had a quote on my locker senior year of high school – it read “i feel bad for my fans, because every time they say they like me, they have to defend themselves.” Guess who said that — Morrisey. Thank you Jason, for bringing my idol to the pages of 1115.org

im still amused by the conservative news outlets that refer to them as “homicide” bombers. i mean DUH, the point of blowing shit up is to kill people. the “suicide” is an adjective describing the method used. tim mcveigh was a homicide bomber, but he wasnt a suicide bomber. argh.

  7. Ever notice that in one of Bush’s speechs (Bad Grammar, I know) he used an EXACT quote from that one Denzel Washington movie where some terrorists are doing something, forget what,n New York City, and Denzel says somethin’ like: “We will Hunt them, we will find them, and we will kill them.” Exact same words bush said. :P
